Respiratory Protection Courses

The basic objective of this two-day training course is to provide health and safety professionals with background and theory for developing and implementing a company respiratory protection program. Seminar graduates will understand what is involved in complying with the 1998 Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Respiratory Protection Standard 1910.134. Specifically, students will learn what elements are to be included in the formulation of a Standard Operating Procedure Manual (SOP), what record-keeping is mandated by the act, understand the different types of approved respirators that are available, how to perform appropriate qualitative and quantitative fit tests, and using the mandated medical examination procedures, what medical conditions preclude the wearing of a respirator.
This seminar is designed for medical and safety professionals who will either be designing or supervising a company respirator protection program or working with those who already have this responsibility.
Course Topics:
- Understand respirator program requirements as described in the 1998 OSHA 1910.134 and ANSI Z88.2-1992.
- Know the required elements necessary to prepare a written Standard Operation Procedure Manual.
- Know record keeping requirements.
- Understand respirator types (NIOSH approved)
- Know quantitative and qualitative fit testing procedures.
- Understand medical clearance procedures.
